The stock pivot pin is made of plastic and over time, from use and heat cycles, the pin can wear down to a nub or shatter completely leaving you stranded. In the 90s BMW developed the stainless steel pivot pin for the E31 chassis. By using brass, it reduces wear and shattering under stress. Since the OEM BMW one is getting a bit pricey, we decided to create our own. This is a great upgrade for street or track focuses BMWs.
