The cover strip sits on top of the headlight and creates a water tight seal between the headlight and hood. This piece simply snaps into place. 

If your E46 has fog or moisture in its headlights there is a good chance your headlight lens gaskets are worn and need to be replaced. Fits left and right applications—comes with two gaskets for both side.
